For 39 years, the Fine Arts Society of Sarasota has held an annual Creators & Collectors Tour. The tour is a 2-day, self-guided Tour of artist studios around Sarasota, coupled with a gallery show of other outstanding local artists at Ringling College. The public gets a rare opportunity to see where artists live and work, see works in progress, talk with the artists whose work appeals to them, and experience how artists create and live with art on a daily basis. The tour dates are Friday, March 12 and Saturday, March 13 from 10 to 4 each day. All artwork is for sale.

This year you will visit the studios and chat with these award-winning artists:

Painters Joseph Patrick Arnegger*, Tim Jaeger*, Susan Klein, David Piurek*

Sculptor Scott Moore*

Sculptors Diane Linscott and Marilyn Rothschild have been invited by Scott Moore to exhibit at his studio during the Tour.

NOTE:  The * indicates graduates of the Ringling College of Art and Design.

Now moving on to Ringling College campus, the Fine Arts Society has created a major art exhibit at the dramatic new Ulla Searing Student Center. There you will meet 12 more artists, all from southern Sarasota County, displaying a variety of work, from pottery to painting.

The artists that have been selected for the Ulla Searing Student Center Exhibit are:

Basket Makers: Elaine Cunningham and Marge Schemanski
Jewelry Designer: Melissa Erlenbach Searle
Painters: Francesco Agresti, Marilyn Gross, Sylva Hutchins, Linda Larisch and Susan Turconi
Photographer: James Johnson
Potters: Pat Kelly and Walter Yovaish
Sculptor: Julia Hyman

Finish with a stop at the Official Art Gallery of our Tour, State of the Arts Gallery, in downtown Sarasota located in the emerging new downtown hot spot of State Street. The gallery plans a special exhibit during the Tour, Locally Grown and Certified Organic, and represents several former Tour artists. This contemporary fine art gallery seeks to enhance the cultural canvas of Sarasota's visual arts community, representing local and nationally recognized artists. The client-friendly gallery's philosophy stems from the belief that we are all collectors at some point in our stage of art appreciation.
