Philanthropy
Community Outreach Grants
The Society’s philanthropic reach goes into our community to promote the Arts in Sarasota County. In spring 2011 grants were awarded to 5 worthwhile nonprofit organizations:
- The Hermitage Artist Retreat
- Sarasota International Art Festival, The
Carreno Dance Festival Summer Intensive Program
- Sarasota School of Arts & Sciences Junior
Thespian Troupe
- The School Board of Sarasota County
- Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall

Scholarship Program
Tuition awards are given to talented students of Sarasota County for undergraduate studies in the arts including visual arts, performing arts, creative writing, architecture and related endeavors. A two-year residency in Sarasota County is required. Awards are based on artistic talent, family need, character, academic achievement, and appropriate college choice.
Applications must include student's photo, current transcript, three letters recommending the student's artistic talent, and talent samples on DVD or CD for visual and performing applicants.
How to Qualify
Requests for scholarships must be made through guidance counselors at Sarasota County High Schools or the Society Scholarship Committee Chair.
Deadlines
The deadline for applications is March 1, 2011.
Results will be communicated to scholarship winners by April 2011.
A scholarship Awards Luncheon will be held in May 2011 at the Bird Key Yacht Club for scholarship recipients, Society members and invited guests.
