Scholarship Program

Tuition awards are given to talented students of Sarasota County for continuing studies in the arts including visual arts, performing arts, creative writing, architecture and related endeavors.  A two-year residency is required.  Awards are based on academic achievement, artistic talent, family need, and appropriate college choice.

After a preliminary selection, the Scholarship Committee requests talent samples of slides, videos, or cassette tapes for final consideration.  A scholarship Awards Luncheon will be held on May 3, 2009 at the Van Wezel for scholarship recipients, Society members and invited guests.

How to Qualify

Requests for scholarship applications must be made through guidance counselors at Sarasota County High Schools or the Society Scholarship Committee Co-Chairs.

Deadlines

The deadline for applications is March 1, 2009, and applications must include student's photo, a current transcript, and three letters recommending the student's artistic talent.  Results will be sent to winners by April.
